The Power of Asking: Steve Jobs

Great old school video below of Steve Jobs rocking a solid beard and dishing some sound advice.

Jobs discusses how he called Bill Hewlett (co-founder of HP) at age 12, landing a summer job.

Day In The Life: Richard Branson

Ever wondered what Richard Branson’s business life is like. Check out this behind the scenes look below.

Spike Jonze Bio

Even though WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE was probably the worst movie I have ever seen, Spike Jonze’s rise to wealth is truly remarkable (and he HAS made some great films like BEING JOHN MALKOVICH, ADAPTATION etc). This video below gives a comprehensive look at his talents and entrepreneurial career. Most interesting to note is that most of my favorite music videos were directed by Jonze (how he got his start).

The Donald

With all of the media surrounding Donald Trump’s brash persona, Obama bashing and possible Republican presidential nomination (if he actually announces he is officially running), I wanted to share this interview I watched recently which doesn’t ask Trump the standard ABC, GMA or CNN type questions.

There is no question that Donald’s business skills are concrete and I have yet to do a post on him. In this unique interview, Donald describes his upbringing in New York, Military School, his own ego, buying real estate during business school, starting the Trump Tower, and obviously the reasons for his successful real estate business and ultimate rise to wealth. Very engaging and worth sharing for anyone with real estate aspirations.

Entry Level Billionaires: Lucas, Bloomberg, Oprah…

Wanted to share this very interesting article from MSN MONEY. It highlights the entry level positions that some of the wealthiest and most influential people had at the beginning of their careers.

Interesting to notice that Buffett took a tax deduction during his teens on his bicycle for running his newspaper delivery business.

Also, Bloomberg was a parking lot attendant!

News Corp’s Rise in 2 Minutes

Below is a quick, very informative video detailing the history and various acquisitions of News Corp since it’s inception.

Most interesting to notice is that the company’s origins came from Australia, and it’s first American asset was the San Antonio Express News.

CEO/Chairman Rupert Murdoch then bought The National Star, New York Post, and 50% of 20th Century Fox (buying it in full 3 years later).

The video also lists News Corp’s eyesores, such as DirectTV and Myspace (does anyone still use this?).
