To anyone who hasn’t seen it already, Bloomberg TV has created some excellent webisodes entitled Game Changers, profiling various entrepreneurs (Steve Jobs, Larry Ellison, Henry Kravis, Jon Stewart, Jay Z and Sergei Brin & Larry Page).
For example, most people know that Larry Ellison created Oracle and that this is how he amassed his great fortune. However, this Game Changers video, in the link below, fills the gap between his first job at Ampex to the beginnings of Oracle (and is much more entertaining than reading Wikipedia!)
The video details his first company, SDL, which he created with Bob Miner having only $1200, and his first client, which happened to be the CIA (this spurned many other government clients). The video also includes previous interviews of Ellison, and interviews with those who knew him best. Most interesting is hearing Ellison’s view on market share after taking a trip to Japan (which contributed to his aggressive personality), and learning about the government’s lawsuit against him, which he won.
